More smiling faces! The Children First Foundation has distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars - with 80% of your membership renewal contribution helping organizations in your own state - to safe haven organizations, crisis pregnancy resource centers, and maternity homes.

Safe Haven laws help prevent abandonment of babies by stressed mothers in unsafe locations like restrooms and even trash bins. The laws encourage mothers who do not want their babies to place the babies at designated locations like hospitals - anonymously and protected from criminal prosecution - so the child can be cared for and placed for adoption with a loving home. The National Safe Haven Alliance advocates for states to create Safe Havens laws and locations.

Pregnancy resource centers provide wonderful assistance to women and couples who become pregnant unexpectedly and feel unprepared for parenting. These centers provide resources and counseling to help relieve uncertainty and stress – right through the pregnancy, birth, and parenting afterward – and they can direct parents to other needed resources. These centers are on the front line of helping parents with decisions about adoption, referrals to adoption agencies and service providers, and counseling. Very many women would not find the joy of pregnancy and adoption without the blessing of crisis pregnancy resource centers!

Maternity homes provide housing and crucial support for pregnant women, often helping the women with adoption placement through counseling, referrals, and support during their pregnancy. They offer a stable home environment for these women who are greatly in need of it, and they will also provide or refer to essential services like education, employment, financial counseling, and prenatal care.
